About the book
Built for people who don't get a second try.
Morning Lee started his first business in 1996, selling computer parts and refurbished PCs while he was still at university. A moving company followed in 2006, then a logistics company in 2010 — the most successful of the group — along with a furniture store, a courier service, a cleaning company, and a jade business somewhere in between. Risk Free Startup Success is the method he actually used across those thirty years, written down as six steps instead of left as instinct.
PRISMs is short for six steps, each one built to catch a bad bet before it turns into an expensive one:
Prepare
Lay a solid foundation for your venture.
Research
Understand your market and competition, inside and out.
Innovate
Craft innovative solutions to stand out.
Strategize
Develop a strategy that ensures sustainable growth.
Measure
Track your progress and adjust as needed.
Scale
Grow confidently, minimizing common startup pitfalls.
The argument of the book is that most startups don't fail because the idea was bad — they fail because someone kept spending after the idea had already been proven wrong. The six steps are illustrated throughout with what Amazon, Tesla, and Starbucks got right and wrong at comparable stages of their own growth, so the lessons aren't abstract.
